Oh my gosh, you guys. First of all, I just want to say thank you for a truly warm, sewing-community reception to my first wedding dress post and video! So many comments and lovely thoughts and suggestions, and such excitement!
One thing that a few of you mentioned was that I should definitely try on some different styles to get ideas for my dress in person. I was intending to try on dresses in a bridal salon already, but it was going to be more of a 'for the experience' event rather than a research mission. Then, two of my friends on Instagram (Thanks Laura and Katie!) told me that their idea of what they wanted in a dress completely changed after trying different styles on.
Basically, that's all to say that I decided to push the timeline up for dress 'shopping', enlist my friend Hilary, and go try on some dresses!
We started at a mid-range dress shop that had a variety of shapes (and a lot of polyester) and worked our way up from there. What were the thoughts? How did it go? Do I still want what I thought I wanted? I guess you'll have to watch the video to get the whole story!
I'm in full sketching mode now, with a healthy side of trying to source the materials I'll need to make what I want. I doubt it'll take another whole month between now and the next video, but either way, soon I'll be able to share my sketches!
